Growth is not the end alone all. In fact like every other thing in life, too much growth is deadly. But many countries do not believe in a cap or a limit to growth. Especially America, with its "American dream" that only keeps on growing! "Gotta get bigger and better!" Sometimes it's not even better its same quality, same look, higher price; consumerism at work.
There is a better more environmentally way to manage an economy. Growth reduces the standard of living; lets avoid that. We can avoid that.
I just recently watched a movie that gave me new insight. If everyone changed their view of success to be less materialistic we would all have a better chance of success and intrinsic happiness. Happiness is success.
